Jersey Graduate Diploma in Law: A new Course
The 2018/2019 academic year at the Institute of Law is seeing the introduction of a new course, the Jersey Graduate Diploma in Law (JGDL).
This course is tailor-made for those who already have a degree and wish to convert to Law. Students graduating from this course will be eligible to enter the Jersey Law Course.
The components:
The Jersey Graduate Diploma in Law includes tuition and assessment of the following six subjects in English law:
- The English law of Contract;
- The law of Tort;
- Equity and Trusts;
- Principles of English Criminal law and the law of Evidence;
- Principles of English Constitutional and Administrative law;
- The law of the European Union.
Each of the above modules is 30 credits. In addition, students undertake a 30 credit dissertation of 8,000-10,000 words, and complete a skills-based module on Legal Systems and Legal Method.
The total number of credits for the JGDL is 210.
The syllabus for each of the above subjects conforms with those for the University of London LLB, and students on the Jersey Graduate Diploma in Law share lectures with students on the LLB course.
The JGDL students are assessed separately; each of the 6 taught modules has a written examination of 2 hours and 15 minutes and one piece of coursework of 2,000 words.
The fees:
We are pleased to announce an introductory fee of £10,000 for the 2 years of tuition. This fee covers the first attempt at examination for each course.
